Hakodate Birding

Rainy day in Hokkaido

Posted in Unspecified

Well it was raining all day today. Not very nice to walk on when puddles of water form on top of the ice so I didn't go out at all. Not much around the last 2 or 3 days anyway. There were some large Gulls on the river near my appartment (which is no longer frozen)-Slaty Backed and Herring mostly but at least 1 Glaucous Winged. Some of the Herring Gulls looked a bit odd but if any of them are something more interesting I'm afraid to say I'm not really the person to ID them. And that's about it. I had a look in Goryokaku Park 2 days ago. Nothing. Except Dusky Thrush and a female Sparrowhawk. This Whooper Swan pic was actually taken last year at Utonai-Ko (a well-known reserve about 4 hours drive away). Dunno why I'm posting it today.
