Birding with Tucker

Saturday, March 1, 2008 - Golden Eagle-Eagle Appreciation Day

Today my mom and I went to the Prairie Heritage Center in O'Brien Co. Iowa for Eagle Appreciation Day. When I was there I got to see a Golden Eagle, a new life bird. They like to stay there in the winter along with the Bald Eagles to hunt and fish. A day or two before the event, deer carcasses were set out for the eales to feed on, but very few of them ever came to feed, in fact most of them were soaring overhead. The Golden Eagle I saw was a young one and had a very pretty banded tail which was very noticeable when he was flying. This is life bird #248 for me so it means I only have 52 more to go until I reach 300!
