Spring Has Sprung

Just as Surfbirds began it's enforced holiday, I was about to post some photos of early spring flowers.

It's a bit late now, but I'll post them anyway.

Welcome Back

Instead of a blow by blow account of events while you were away, here are the edited highlights from the rest of January.

On Saturday 27th January we had another trip to the New Forest in an attempt to see the Great Grey Shrike which has spent the winter in the Holm Hill area of the New Forest. This time we were lucky and had very good views. I even managed a record shot of it.

On a day off on Monday 29th January we went to Chew Valley Lake, where among the more common birds we saw a red head Smew, unfortunately it was too far away for a phopto.
