Prescot Reservoir

1 Black-necked Grebe - juv. on res. 4
1 Ruff low over res. 4 with 2 Greenshanks during low cloud then went south. Similar size to Greenshank so presumably a male
3 Greenshanks - 2 as above, 1 immediately before them appeared to go down at either Section 1 Pit or the Spa Well [an iron-rich spring or chalybeate] on the safari-drive
6 Common Sandpipers
1 Ringed Plover heard over. B.H.+J.H. had earlier seen 8 in flight !
1 Wheatear on the old causeway between res. 3 and disused no. 2 tank
1 Skylark south over. 1st of the autumn appropriately on such a good day for visible migration
1 Red-breasted Goose
