BH reports 1 Whimbrel west at 1600 hrs
5 Curlews - 3 south-east at 0935 hrs followed a few minutes later by 2 more on the same course

1 Hobby hunting back and forth over a small area of hillside forming the south side of the Woodlands Valley which contains the A57 Snake Road. Alport Bridge is at the confluence of the rivers Alport and Ashop. A track leads across a ford from here

The June full-moon around which time the meads [meadows] were traditionally mowed for hay. Last night's full-moon was apparently the lowest above the horizon for 18 years. It also looked very big and yellow [Honey Moon] rising in the south-east around midnight. It should be almost as spectacular over the next night or two. The drive south along Catchdale Moss Lane is recommended
