no sign of the hoopoe tonight but we were rewarded by an awesome impression by the whooley - nothing like a hoopoe but very impressive none the less.
Went for another look at the hoopoe today. Whooley came along and was rewarded with cracking views - very impressed he was, the tart!
Had more views of the hoopoe today, after it was relocated in the beet field. Carmo managed to get himself this length for it at lunchtime, which was nice.
After yesterday's trickle of migrants, I was out again, hopeful for more. Didn't do too badly either.
Wheatear - 3
Goldcrest - 1
Blackcap - 1 male
Hoopoe - 1 - cracking views in flight and then on the deck. A few folk managed to catch up with it too.
Ok - I'm probably way behind everyone else but I finally got some migrants at Galley this morning. Scores on the doors were as follows....
Chiffchaff - 2
Willow Warbler - 4
Sand Martin - 1
Hopefully they'll keep a' coming!
A new high score of 8 (count 'em) little egrets at Long Strand today, feeding in the newly drained marshy bank by the channel.
Spotted another/the same black-necked grebe out on the lake today - had to get a closer look to make sure it wasn't a slav. Its still moulting but I haven't seen it for at least a month - wonder if its the same one that over-wintered?
