This summer plumaged SLAVONIAN GREBE has been hanging around on the Exe Estuary off of the recreation ground at Topsham for a few days ! but it has taken me three attempts before I managed to catch up with it & get these shots .
Today Andy Bond , Ken Montandon & myself joined up with many others on the DBWPS day trip to Lundy Island , on the trip over around 15 MANX SHEARWATER were seen as well as a few GANNET & 3 Harbour Porpoise .
Once we had reached the island the ship did a tour right around the island & a PUFFIN was seen flying out to sea with a few GUILLEMOT & RAZORBILL & some Alantic Grey Seal were also seen , but on the island the birding was very poor with only a Female WHEATEAR of the Greenland race , a WOOD WARBLER , a WILLOW WARBLER & a Female BLACKCAP seen , but we did see a Sika Deer which was very nice .
On the return journey there were numerous GANNET , 20+ MANX SHEARWATER & a FULMAR .
A trip down to South Devon this afternoon with Andy Bond & Brian Heasman for a reported GLOSSY IBIS at West Alvington provided us with great views of the bird on a small pond & in the fields , also seen were numerous HOUSE MARTIN with a few SWALLOW & a CHIFFCHAFF was singing nearby .
PS The farmer is not charging for people to go on his land !! but if you like you can make a donation towards the local school .
