One of three putative males seen on the island. Could the slightl discrepancies in plumage from a 'classic' male (eg amount of black in wings and tail, dark marks on mantle) be down to it being a first summer male or does it have some Snow Bunting genes in it? Comments welcome. I will post shots of the other two in due course

The least convincing of three birds seen, this bird was holding territory at Southwest Point. The large amount of black in the scapulars and black in the coverts may point towards a hybrid origin?

The second best of the three seen and the same bird as the picture a few below. Perhaps a first summer bird left over after last autumn's influx. This bird was on territory at Northeast Point.

The best of the three, this bird (also pictured below) may also be a first summer male. It was holding territory on a boulder field in the north of the island.
