No domestications/ ferals included except wild boar (welcome back to England guys). Still need wildcat, black rat, and a few of the scarcer cetaceans incl white-sided dolphin. Wet feet and muddy backside for (I admit) a really cute Harvest Mouse (tick) and good views of shrews and Wood Mice, glad to see the latter not in our kitchen! Another new mammal experience, getting totally soaked for a Northern Bottlenose Whale. Polecat first tick this year, standing for hours in hot sweaty hide makes a change from being dragged around woods in pitch dark walking into branches and tripping over stuff! Wildcat again this year, gripped John off ha ha. Highlights: 3 Orcas off Ardnamurchan, Pine Martens and Otters this year. Not bad for someone who doesn't care about listing! |

Highlights so far include Water Shrew, Polecat, several Pine Marten and a number of Otters. Only seen two species of cetacean in British waters (Harbour Porpoise and Bottle-nosed Dolphin). Latest sightings: visit my website. Never really attempted mammal listing (this is the first time I've drawn up a list), but realised I've seen a few good ones and might have to start doing it properly. Total includes a few non/questionable natives - e.g. Rabbit, House Mouse, Coypu (one of the last ones in Norfolk!), but not Homo sapiens - I'm with Richard on this one. Latest: Wallie the whale |

Harp Seal (finder, Northumberland first record). Would appreciate some guidelines on what can & can't be counted! (e.g. surely Wild Boar is a domestication gone wild, in UK?!) (10/06)Thanks James; another one to query, do you include Homo sapiens - I do, after all the species did reach Britain naturally! Precious few bats this far north (6 spp, of which I've got 5) Oh, and can I count the Chillingham Wild Cattle? I reckon they should be allowed, they're the closest Britain (or anyone!) has to Aurochs |

It was me who suggested the mammals list, wish I hadn't now, I'm at the bottom! Never thought of adding myself though! Before 'me', dog otter was my 30th and then brown hare. Got most commoner bats and deer. I've been into spiders for so long I've only just got into birds aswell, so only low on all other lists! I really want to see wildcat and then pine marten. Got mink now! Finally, back in July. Muntjac and Chinese water deer in Norfolk. |
