Top three highlights Little Blue Heron, Western Sandpiper and Blackpoll Warbler (all in Galway). Latest addition - Red-crested Pochard (Galway). Latest finds;-l r plover, ladies Island. bonapartes gull-swords estuary april 2009, two barred crossbill-baltimore sept 2008, barred warbler-toe head sept 2008, ring-necked duck-lough Owel oct 2008, Great spotted woodpecker-pair and Irelands 5th breeding record, plus another heard on a bird race!. Black tern-brandon head sept 2008, Grey Phal- blackrock sept 2008includes 2 heard only finds-quail x2, spotted crake, a few co. finds- bee-eater, two barred crossbill and golden eagle. best of the rest- cattle egret(the last good one!!), ortolan bunting, alpine swift, hobby x 4, buff b x 3, would be ahead of dermot if not for double pucture!! I'll get l b dow again! |

Doesn't include relocations (like the Baltimore Chimney Swift in 2005), birds at known colonies (i.e. Little Tern), birds where my part in the finding process wasn't important enough (i.e. LB Dowitcher) etc. Latest finds: Ortolan Bunting at the Old Head of Kinsale, Ring-necked Duck and Goosander at Lough Gill, Richard's Pipit and Green-winged Teal at Ballycotton. Highlights include Ireland's first Hume's Warbler, the second Red-necked Stint and Isabelline Shrike, Cork's first Caspian Gull, Laughing and Franklin's Gulls, Alpine Swift (x5), Semipalmated Sandpiper, AGP, Buff-breasted Sandpiper, Wilson's Petrel (x2), Subalpine, Greenish and Pallas's Warblers (x2), Hawfinch, Golden Oriole, Water Pipit etc. Need to work on my wader finds list! |
