Belvide 31.12.11 Overcast WSW 2

The final day of the year petered out quietly. The gull roost was totally ruined by an adult Lesser-black Backed Gull that had a 25ft piece of audio tape attached to it’s wing. This frightens the living daylights out of any roosting gull, and for over an hour the gulls just would not settle. When they eventually did, 2 adult Yellow-legged Gulls were all that could be found in a mutch reduced roost. A male Blackcap was by the Gazebo hide. An immature Peregrine was bombing about this afternoon. 318 Teal, 96 Wigeon, 76 Gadwall and 87 Goldeneye were counted.

In case anyone is wondering this is the new layout of the blog, which has been switched over by the Surfbirds team. It is using a Word Press format which is supposed to be much more secure.
