Some good winter birds around, although the divers and ducks in the harbour are keeping well out of photo range. Marsh and Hen harriers are both hunting at Middlebere although the hide can be quite crowded at times.
Another frosty cold morning in Avocet hide. Lots of Teal out in the channel being terrorised by the resident Yellow legged gulls. In front of the hide a Curlew decided to do some fishing.
Quite common in the forests around Wareham. This small group of five birds were most obliging, posing nicely in a small conifer by the side of the track.
It was cold, cold, cold this morning. Avocet hide was like a fridge. Still it was worth the trip for the sub adult male Hen Harrier hunting in front of the hide.
Sika deer on the frozen Middlebere track.
When a large brown raptor hurtled past after a blackbird and went crashing into a bush. I thought it had to be a sparrowhawk, but no, looking slightly shaken a juvenile peregrine staggered out onto a nearby post.
