Thursdays sightings

Today at the new Workings, 11 Wigeon, 4 Goldeneye (2 drakes), 41 Golden Plover, male Stonechat, Redshank, Dunlin and Green Sandpiper.
A male Sparrowhawk was plucking prey under the hedge on Lock lane.
At the Old Workings, the Willow tit is still present. Also seen were Peregrine, Stonechat and Water Rail.

Up the road at Holt, a Black Redstart was on the Castle tower and chimneys. (Found yesterday by Bob Woodward). A Lesser Spotted Woodpecker flew over.

Fridays sightings

Today at the New Workings:
Very quiet. A pair of Goldeneye remain plus a pair of very vocal Kingfishers.
At the Old Workings a large party of Tits feeding on the feeders in
front of the Hide by the Island Pool (no sign of the Willow tit during
a brief visit) and at least 2 Watere Rail. 1 seen by the hide on
approach.

Monday's sightings

Today at the New Workings:
A few Golden Plover still around. Also 2 Green sandpipers and 3 Goldeneye. (2 femal and a male)
At the Old workings, the Willow Tit still showing well on the feeders from the Island Pool hide.

Wednesday Sightings

At the New Workings today, 120 Golden Plover on the ploughed field on
the west bank, a pair of Goldeneye and a lone drake Goldeneye on the
retreat farm pool still.
At the Old Workings, the Willow tit still showing well.

Monday's sightings

At the New Workings:
70 odd Golden Plovers were flushed by a Peregine. Also present were a
Dunlin, Redshank and 2 Raven. On Retreat Farm pool a Male Goldeneye.
At the Old Workings, the Willow tit still showing well from the hide.

Monday's sightings

Today at the Old Workings, the ringed Willow Tit was showing well on the Island pool feeders.
Also at least 2 Water Rail calling but not seen.

At the New Workings the Female Goldeneye is still present along woth Dunlin and Green Sandpiper.

Saturday at old workings

I visited the Old workings this morning. Things are much improved around the hide now. There was a willow tit on the nut feeders with all the other tits. Along the fench to the small conifer field were 7 redpoll. About 10 cormorant flew over. All this around 12:00
