Do you want a FREE birding trip in Peru?

Manu or Carpish/Satipo road? Your choice

This is no joke. You can actually get a birding trip in Peru for FREE. The idea is to promote community birding tourism initiatives and by giving away some free trips (14 trips in total still available) it will hopefully bring the sufficient PR to the area so that both the sustainability of the give-away and the future as birding destination is secured.
It is all explained in my regular blog.. Just follow the instructions.

I have not been very active on Surfbirds the last couple of months. My intention was to use this platform to make summaries of my blog activity, but I could not find enough time. I have recently become father again. Anahi was born on July 31.
In any case. Here are a few summaries that I have written for my blog relatively recently.  I am sure you shall find something of interest here.

  • The yearly newsletter. Here are the most important of my blog posts listed. I am sure you something of interest. Social Media for birders is covered extensively.
  • The new opt-in newsletter with the links I have shared on Facebook, some blogposts covering Megas, rare birds, twitches, threatened birds and some upcoming trips.
  • Twitter is a great platform to share links. However, no-one will read all my tweets, so it make sense to make them more accessible in a blog post. Here is the last weekly twitter summary.

Promise to not be so long before taking part in the surfbirds community again. Good birding everyone.

Twitter and Facebook for Birders – 3 great manuals

Apparantly Surfbirds did not like that I linked to my own page….in my previous post. All links were invalidated. I have edited and used short url in plain text instead in the former post and this one. I didn´t sell any-thing. I was just referring to some of my blog-posts.

I don’t think there are many people who have not heard about Facebook and Twitter. On my regular blog www.kolibriexpeditions.com/birdingperu/blog/ I have posted three manuals to these social media which you ought to check out asap. In fact the third one may even save you some money, as I am presenting an alternative and totally free way of getting rare bird alerts straight into your cell phone.

How to remember birdsongs in the Amazon with Monty Python.

Birding Peru blog

I just set up this blog account on Surfbirds, in spite of already blogging on my home-page. I am not really sure what I will blog about from here. But I figured I can always share a few thoughts regarding my blog-posts on http://kolibriexpeditions.com/birdingperu/blog/ and make summeries of the latest posts.

UPDATE: For some reason Surfbirds made the links I had posted invalid!!!. Anyway the links are shortened now inthe bit.ly format following the title of the page.

The top pick this week was a somewhat humourous post called How to remember birdsongs in the Amazon with Monty Python  http://bit.ly/Fdt7. Say no more!, but check it out.

Other popular twitching related posts with a character of memoirs of my early birding experiences the past weeks have been:

Hope you enjoy, Will be sending summeries like this every so often.
