With all this cold weather movement going on over the pond in the last couple of weeks, its been a little frustrating to have no sign of movement on the patch, until today that is. At long last, the long-awaited invasion of iceland gulls finally happened, with three turning up at Red Strand this morning. Luckily they hung about long enough for me to scope them from Dirk – looked like 2nd winters but they were a wee bit distant!
Back at the lake, a grey wagtail on the shore whilst doing the I-Webs count was welcome, as I haven’t managed one of these yet. And finally, one or two flyover golden plovers calling this evening at dusk completed the hat-trick for the year (67).
