Latest sightings down the valley 8th-14th November 2005.

Hi all, here is the latest sightings down the Soar Valley, in Leicestershire from the 8th to the 14th of November.

The Great White Egret was still being reported in the general area of Cossington Mill, until at least the 13th.

I saw the bird in the late morning, in its usual ditch just south of Cossington Mill. Two visiting birders were a little surprised when I told them that this bird had probably been around for at least month!(as it had only been reported to the pager network for just over a week).

Other highlights during the week, included the monthly wildfowl count of Wanlip South GPs. This area usual takes at least three hours to count, due to the large area and the number of different pits to be counted.

Birds seen included

Latest sightings down in the Soar valley,Leicestershire.

Hello all, this is my first entry on my blog about the wildlife sightings in the Soar Valley, which is situated just a few miles north of Leicester city centre.

I will try and update it as much as possible, but due to my work commitments(i'm a nurse by profession),there might be a slight time delay for sightings!

Cheers,

Dave Gray.

Following information via my pager yesterday, and my mate Rob Fray(the local county recorder) I finally saw this bird, after a month of it being reported in the general area of the Soar Valley!

This also shows just how underwatched this excellent site really is, minus the fact that it is only a few miles from the centre of a large city.

My Soar Valley patch list now stands at around 160.
