Upton Warren 26/9/2010

Brrrrrr! ain’t there a change in the weather.  I’ll have to sort out my winter woolies again, I’ve been perished this morning my teeth havn’t stopped chattering yet.

We decided on Upton Warren mainly because there was a Pectoral Sandpiper reported from here yesterday. We were in luck as it was still present this morning.

Belvide 12/9/2010

Well what a week, I feel like I’ve been hit by a hammer, my brother John collapsed and died on Wednesday morning, I’ve been in a state of shock ever since and I’m feeling very flat at present.

I deliberated about going out this morning but decided that life must go on. I’m glad I did, we had a good morning at Belvide seeing Black Tern and Spotted Flycatcher, both year ticks also 6 Little Stints, Knot, Greenshank, Ringed Plover, Lesser Whitethroat, Hobby, Garden Warbler, Willow Warbler and Chiff-Chaff.

Osprey!!! Blithfield 5/9/2010

Red letter day today, we parked by the causeway and started to scan towards Tad Bay and an Osprey appeared from nowhere it flew over the causeway and off towards the dam and then disappeared.

We then went round to Blithe Bay where there were 2 Ruff and 3 Greenshanks,  while walking round to Tad Bay we saw the Osprey again over the brow of the hill in Tad Bay, this time it had a fish in its talons.

On reachingTad Bay we saw it perched in a dead tree on the other side of the reservoir eating it’s fish. It was later flushed by a Buzzard.
