Went out to Berkeley Sound this morning to give customs clearance to a reefer vessel, very few birds about apart from King Cormorant, Rock Shag, Snowy Sheathbill & Kelp Gulls. On the way back our coxswain spotted what turned out to be 2 Southern Right Whales. They were very confiding animals allowing the launch to slowly approach right alongside them.
Below are a few of the images that I took.
Theses are only the 3rd & 4th Southern Right Whales that I have seen in the Falkland Islands in over twenty years.
