Wilson's Phalarope – Very Rare Vagrant

On the way back to Stanley from Goose Green today I got a call from Sue Morrison saying that she and Mike had just found a Wilson’s Phalarope on one of the large pools on the South side of Cape Pembroke, I got to the pond a little over an hour later and had great views of the bird feeding.

Wilson’s Phalarope are very rare vagrants to the Falkland Islands, this is only my fifth sighting, The last sighting was of two birds at Kelp Point on 11th February 2007, They were also found by Mike & Sue Morrison. A massive thanks to Sue & Mike for another great find and the call.
