Wharncliffe Woods and Nightjars

Evenings birding out at Wharncliffe Woods for the yearly outing for Nightjars but on the way we had to stop at Ingbirchworth Res. to add a bird to my club area list Common Scoter 12-off and all down at the far end of the res. along with the Scoters Little and Great Crested Grebes, Mallards and Tufted Duck.  Huddersfield area list now 144. Arriving at Wharncliffe and after the long walk evening had started to approach and soon Woodcooks gave themselves away with there squeaky calls in flight, Tawny Owls then started and finally the hoped for Nightjar gave himself away with the distintive churring,  seen Na! not this time maybe next

for a stunning video of Nightjar , in dayligt, see this posted by Videobirdman
