Anyone from surfbirds care to comment on the shambles this list has become today?...Malc

Hi Malc, have also emailed you. So we've done some clean up and removed the jokester entries. We obviously can't police all users on the BOU list but we've looked at the top 10 to make sure there are no obvious non BOU entries there.
We need full totals so no 300ish numbers - we removed the "ish" part.
Interestingly, that even though there is the non BOU list, very few users enter their totals. Are Surfbirds users generally purists or is there a feeling that there's less publicity/exposure for that list?

Cheers for sorting this out and hopefully everyone will stick to the rules and post their BOU totals now.I think the other league would be better perhaps being limited to UK400 totals as without somekind of criteria to follow you could just tick anything I guess. Cheers.....Malc

We do ask all readers to let us know if the lists need maintenance. We really appreciate the eyes - there are a lot of lists that it's hard for us to be watching them all the time. We may not be able to get to it immediately but we will try to be prompt. Thanks in advance.

Even tho the jokers have been removed there are still people listing in the BOU section that have applied IBRC birds to there lists. At the moment no one knows what has been added so maybe a more transparent type of list would be better so then you can view what others are ticking !
Just a thought .....
cheers

Hi Jason, it's a great idea and it's something we've thought about. An easy solution is for people to attach their lists (as a pdf or excel) next to their entry. More complex but do-able is that when you enter yourself on the BOU list, there is an updated BOU list for the year where you only have the option of ticking certain species. Someone would need to keep that up to date though the year which seems like a lot of work unless someone wants to volunteer. Maybe we'll get a poll going soon and see if there's a preference for more transparent listing. Thanks, admin

I suppose most of us like to 'play' on a level playing field. By using BOU we have a 'defining' list. A shame the joksters want to childishly ruin everyones' efforts.
