Went for a walk on the beach last night and got distracted from my quest to video Black Turnstones and Surfbirds by a large gull flock. A noisy group of Royal Terns soon settled in the flock and I managed some video that I posted here (http://surfbirds.com/video2/view_video.php?viewkey=799aaa845e1c2e8a762b). I have some footage of Heerman's Gulls that I will post soon in the video section but here's some videograbs of the terns. The sun was setting and gave the birds a nice warm glow as they settled down. Would make a nice watercolor subject.

Beautiful video as well as photos LABirder, I don't think I've ever seen Terns so quiet, obviously evening that does it. I really miss ours at this time of year, birds with such great character.

Thanks for the chance to see both.

Thanks Nighthawk. I'm going to post some Black Turnstone footage in a moment - from the same evening.
