Hi Friends,
Jaidev here from Gujarat, India. Vultures (Gyps) are vanishing slowly and mysteriously from our State. But good news is that the drug melixocam is getting cheaper in comparission with the diclofenac the killer drug for vultures.
Regards,
Jaidev.

Hi Jaidev, welcome. You're our first member from India. Glad to hear that the cause has become known and there's hope. Things were looking pretty dire there recently.

Hello Andy,
You are right about things looking dire. As far as hope is concerned, we are not that hopefull, because vultures here are facing a unique challenge and that is carcass loss!!

Hi Jaidev,

A warm welcome to the Forum. Such a shame to learn more about the sad state of the Vultures, though the news of the Diclofenac may at least bring good news for their future. We need to have hope that their future will be much better and that it will happen soon! I sincerely hope so, with time!

The very best of luck to you and to them!

Thank you very much, Mr Robinson,
Last count of vulture in our state recorded around 40% decline. Due to the lack of carcasses around towns and habitats vultures are forced to concentrate around panjarapol (cattle-camp), which is the only place where carcasses are available these days!! Most of the animals which are left at panjarapols are either of old age or sick and they are being treated with diclofenac. Unfortunately vultures are congregated where they will get maximum diclofenac from their food and this has resulted in their mass destruction.

Hi Jaidev, welcome to the forum. Have heard about the vulture crisis and am hoping there is a solution before it's too late.
