i know this forum is just getting off the ground, but i would rather see reviews from birders than admin staff,as a review from the member will be honest and not based on advertising.
birding magazines have never given an honest review because of advertising.
of course reviews are helpfull, most birders will not give up a good set of gear based on a review.
i have swarovski hd80 mk2/30x/20-60x and slc 10x42 and would not swap them for the world(they beat the spots off leica and Zeiss)
kowa have not made a decent scope since the tsn4 range.

sorry for the moan but i just had to get it off my chest

Absolutely Darrell. We would actually like some help in this dept. Any members who want to be put on a list to review books as publishers send them to us, please PM Admin (click on "admin" above the avatar and select "private message") please also let us know where you live as we will need reviewers from around the world.

We also welcome members' optics reviews - either a reply to a review already posted by admin or a new review.

Same wish from my side. I really would like to see some review or comments on the best optics one feels is. I am looking for comments on the 10x42 Victory from Zeiss. Anyone has something to share?

Hi Szimi, we will try and hope to get more user reviews of optics etc. In meantime, here is a link (http://www.surfbirds.com/cgi-bin/review/view.pl?event=view&cat_name=Equipment_Reviews/Binoculars_Scopes/Binoculars/Zeiss_10x42_T*_FL) to brian's review of Zeiss 10x42 T FL and Nick Moran also posted a follow up.
