Hi SurfBirders, anyone has a copy of the NIKON 10X42HG L DCF for a long time? I just considering to buy a pair of this bino and would like to hear more about the long time field experiences such smoothness of the focusing ring and eg the condition of the rubber armoring etc. My wife has a pair of 8x32 and it has really a superior quality as an optics. Unfortunately the plastic NIKON logo and the model marker were lost (not too strong glue) within a short time. I also don't really like to hold it around my neck as the balance is ugly and tilting on my chest when I am walking.

So please, share experiences please.

Thanks: Szimi

I have had a pair of the respective Nikon 8x42s for a while - they are the older heavier model. My only problems have been the focusing whell gets stiff in cold conditions and the rubber eye cups have stretched - though Nikon have replaced the latter without any problems. Optically they are very good, but not quite as good as the new Swarovski 8x32EL or Zeiss 8x32s I currently have on trial.

Well this is the question :) which brand and model is exceeding the mentioned NIKON model? Any comments would be appreciated.
