Is this a grebe? I thought Slavonian (Horned) Grebe, but as you're on the Falklands, White-tufted?

You are both correct it is a White Tufted Grebe.

Next time you dont get so much of the bird!!

Alan, just been looking over your young grebe photos on your blog (http://www.surfbirds.com/blog/falklandbirder/) (all who are interested in birding down that part of the world should bookmark his blog as there are some great photos) and it seems you can get very close to the birds - is the birdlife fairly fearless?
