I have alot of problems IDing these hawks etc. Here are another couple bad pictures. This guy sat in the neighbors yard for an hour eating something. Thanks for any help in advance. BQ Ohio

Hi BQ, noticed your very last white raptor photo and these ones are only uploading as small thumbnails so very difficult to see what's in them. I want to be sure there's not a technical issue on the forum so wondering if you could email me your original image so I can see if I can upload from my side. I will send you a Private Message with my email address (you can access your private messages from link top right of the forum below your name). I also have fun trying to ID your birds so I would love to see a larger image. Best, Andy

Here is b4quin's raptor. To me it looks large, has a dark capped appearance so I would say it was a Cooper's Hawk. Cooper's and Sharp-shinned are tricky birds to separate without practice. Here's a good webpage summarising the differences (http://www.birds.cornell.edu/pfw/AboutBirdsandFeeding/accipiterIDtable.htm).

andy, thanks for the technical help and the identification. The web site was helpful and reasurring as I have a difficult time id'ing these hawks. From what I read and see here I think a Cooper's is the right call. Based on size it was a bit larger that a crow as I remember, certainly not dove size. Thanks again. BQ
