In the summer of 2006 i found a really good birding spot up near my house, at first it was just a field where i walked my dog but then each day i walked further and further and found more and more habitats. The area consists of 2/3 very large fields, a biggish pond, horsepaddocks, woods, farmland (plus quiet farm roads) a lake and lots of scrub. Spring soon came and what a wonderful site it was!! Yellow wagtails got to double figures, wheatear, quail, 7 warbler species and lots of common things to. since i found it i have had some really good birds there, Hobbys, Quail, Red rumped swallow, Honey buzzards, Red kite, lesser spotted woodpecker just to name a few!! There is also two bird species which i was unable to identify, A smallish falcon species possibly red footed? and a pair of warbler species which to me could only have been great read warblers? The current list stands at 76. But all this underneath my nose and... The M25 runs through part of my patch, so to have seen what a have seen i think is amazing!!!
