A Pacific Diver, presumably last year's bird returning, is again at Llys-y-fran Reservoir, Pembrokeshire.
From RBA - Pembrokes Pacific Diver second-winter still 6 miles NE of Haverfordwest east of B4329 at Llys-y-fran Reservoir. From pay and display car park walk 1 mile past hide and view from muddy cycle track on east shore cSN.037.257
Lets hope it sticks around. Not a bad January, White-crowned Sparrow and Pacific Diver.

A remarkable occurrence - divers returning to inland British waters in itself is a rare occurrence, let alone pacifica doing so!

Is anyone prepared to shell out another £10 to year tick one in Yorkshire I wonder?

I'm hoping there will be better photos this time around. It always seemed to be just out of photographic range unlike the confiding and classic looking Yorks bird.

Much more photogenic this year - cracking ones posted by Steve Evans on Stop Press (http://www.surfbirds.com/cgi-bin/gallery/display.cgi?gallery=gallery9)

Ace pics showing the features really nicely. Now that we seem to have our eye in, let's hope there might be more, especially as there seem to be more Black-throats around this winter (or is it just me).

BTW, I had c.2500 Red-throats off Southwold on Monday!

I was thinking about the possibility of going for the bird this weekend, but no sign so far this morning...

You could be right Brian - We had a good contender on Loch Ryan (viewed from the Wigg) on Sunday. Structurally the bird looked good for Pacific Diver, plumage tones were also good. The bird showed a dark vent strap also. However the bird was to distant to confidently see the full suite of characters. Hopefully it will be seen again over the weekend!
