I am departing for the Far East (Japan and Luzon, PI) Thr Jan 24, and only just now found this website!

I am seeking information on Kyushu in January, Luzon in Feb, and the Ryukyu Islands in early March.

I would greatly appreciate hearing frrm anyone knowing Kyushu and the area around the Arasaki Crane Sanctuary and other sites that might yield Asian rarieties. Please respond ASAP, thank-you. I will also call back any international caller, if I might be so lucky.

In late Feb I will be in Luzon. If you have birded there and might have some suggestions, I still have several weeks and I would be very grateful for any help you can provide.

Best wishes, and may the bird of euphoria perch on your shoulder!

The links already posted will help you a lot (especially Richard Klim report).

If going up to Kadogawa for Japanese Murrelet is part of your plans, here's a link to map with some alternative sites.

See also Kantori for some very recent reports from Arasaki/Izumi.

Some helpful info on the Philippines can be found on the Philippine Bird Club's website http://www.birdwatch.ph/ also check out trip reports on Travelling Birder
http://www.travellingbirder.com/default.php

I found Mt. Makiling easy to bird by staying at Trees on UP Banos campus. We also enjoyed birding at Sagada and the trail to Batad near Banue.
