John Hi,
Like you, I live adjacent to woodland, and consider it to be the best habitat for a whole range of species. Unfortunately, for me ,there has been a tremendous loss and reduction in woodland birds locally over the last fifty years. My woodland is Epping Forest.... however Brambling have just arrived in my neighbours garden, two males in an advanced state of Prussian Blue,Tangerine and White! If only they'd drop into mine? where I could zap them with my Canon! Keep clicking those Redstarts! and Hawfinches!....ah yes I can remember... once upon a time!

Cheers

Hi Ken
Get those black sunflower down and mix a bit of niger in with it. Once they get onto that they might not go back home !
Cheers

John Hi,
On my solitary pyracanth bough that is 'contrived' to hang below my bedroom window, I have a fatball feeder, a black Sunflower/hearts mix feeder, thorns for apples, and a Niger feeder which had been tenantless for 2 years! until a single Goldfinch arrived briefly, and not since, on Jan 2....then out of the blue 2 Siskins daily since 26th!... in total over 25 years... 22 species feeding from the bough and window sill. 'Heres to the next 25 years'

Cheers

Beautiful shot. Like those nails - gives it a great rustic feel - nice composition.
