Does anyone know of any listing software which is compatible with Mac OSX?
I have Wildlife Lister on my PC but had so many problems with it that I just gave up. I do recall reading a comparative review (by Graham Etherington, I think?) on Surfbirds but the message I got was that they were all fairly mediocre and I think all produced for Windows OS.
Has no-one compiled a similar (and simpler) sort of program for the Mac?

Hi Colin,
Try Birders diary. It's first rate You can try it for a month free. Download it on line. It runs a wide range of taxonomic lists. The review you referred to was out of date almost a soon as it appeared.

I have recently started using Birdstack on the web. I find it just exceptional. www.birdstack.com

For anyone finding this thread, here's the link to Graham's review (http://www.surfbirds.com/Features/SoftwareReview/WhichSoftware.html). Maybe time for an update or if anyone has more input, please add it here. Thanks in advance

Firstly, thanks to Mark and Michael for their responses and suggestions.
I am a bit surprised that this thread did not generate a bit more interest. Given the enormous number of birders worldwide and the fact they have now become much more mobile in their birding excursions I would have expected a greater demand for something rather better than what is currently on offer in terms of listing software.
I do have Wildlife Lister on my PC but have given up on it; it must be well over a year since I updated any of my lists. I find that program very user un-friendly and received very poor support from the company (I actually think that my version is "broken", but they will have none of it). Lister sets out to do what I want but it falls short and is really just too complicated and tries to do too much. I dread to think what Wildlife Recorder (the "grown up" version) is like!
I want something which is customizable to the extent of producing country, region and specific locality lists to which I can add notes and photos (in addition to just recording a species), and which will print and export my lists.
I am sure that someone could make a small fortune if they put their minds to it. And, it has to be Mac compatible.
