Short-toed Lark, maybe?

Colin

P.S. I think it should be mandatory to say WHERE and WHEN (as in time of year) these shots were taken.

:laugh:Sorry Colin, this is a mystery game. If I were posting a question about an ID, I would name place and time; but, not here. The birders here are worldwide and very good, I need all the advantages I can get! :wink:

Not a Short-toed Lark or a Reed Bunting.

I'd say that looks like California light so I'll go for something american. Chipping Sparrow?

Yes. Taken on April 29, 2006 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Again, sorry for the horrible photo; you guys are forcing me to dig at the bottom of the barrel to find somethig challenging.

Well, I don't "DO" North American birds and I think it is really bad "form" for someone sailing around the world to post mystery pics which could be from absolutely anyhwere.

At least with John's photos I know that they were taken not only in the U.K. but almost certainly in the Wyre Forest, which gives me a bit of an "edge".

And as for Andy recognising the "flavour" of the sunlight as Californian is just a bit too much.

Colin :laugh::wink::biggrin::cry:
