While I was taking this picture, the local bird guide told me that it is Brown-breasted Flycatcher. Then I've send it to Krys Kazmierczak and he doesn't agree with the ID. I have also received a mail from one of Surfbirds users and he also says that this is a mis-identification.

Photo was taken this year in Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary, Goa, India. The bird was sitting on a low branch just above brook in a forest.

Hi Arthur

Krys is correct. It isn't a Brown-breasted Flycatcher. It is superficially similar in that it has a bicoloured bill etc but it doesn't have the eye-ring, long tail, pale legs, buffy-brown-edged greater coverts etc of a Brown-breasted. It's also not a dark enough shade of brown.

It looks like an Acrocephalus warbler, possibly a Blyth's Reed Warbler.

Agree with Forktail

it seems to be a Blyth's RW (porobably a 1st y bird according to appearant iris colour and stage of plumage as well as very pointed rectices and remiges)....

Yes, if you look closely at the wing edge there appears to be "relatively" clear emarginations on P3 and P4. This, their position, and the short primary projection would suggest Blyth's Reed.
