A friend on Tiree asked me to post a pic on the Discussion Gallery of a 'black backed gull' on Tiree

He comments:

"A small very dark-backed LBB Gull with oddly long wings - reminiscent of Baltic Gull (standard graellsii adults also present)"

Feel free to throw in your tuppence-worth and comment also!

Looks a bit pale for fuscus to me, perhaps a small female intermedius?

I agree. most surely itīs a slender intermedius bird rather than a baltic fuscus fuscus.

Judging from the upperpart tone - if this now is correct - Baltic seems not a good option. I would agree with Harry and Fernando to graellsii/intermedius.
Would be interesting to see some more images!
