Saw this bird last week. The yellow tail and the dark eye mask do not fit with the green finches which are common around here. Any suggestions. I am trying to up load some photos to my album so hopefully a few different angles will help. Sorry about the quality of the photos, the sun was not in a good position.

David,
Although I'm struggling to see the image clearly, it looks like a female Crossbill from the pic posted, must be a migrant as the habitat is wrong.

I am trying to upload a few more different angles on it, but am having problems with the upload to my album. Any suggestions. In the meantime a link to flickr where I have put four more photos of the bird.

It could be a young Oriental Greenfinch.

I can see it properly now! Andy's right, it is indeed an oriental Greenfinch, albeit a little pale. Your original image had me slightly bothered, when I grabbed the pic and enlarged, the bill looked like it overlapped at the tip, my bugbear with it being a Crossbill is it 'overlapped' the wrong way round!
Some very nice shots on your album by the way, keep up the good work!
