Yet another lifer!!! The weekend before last, was the black duck and then as an early birthday present i was taken out to see the male white spotted bluethroat at winterton (Norfolk)! What a stunning bird, ive always wanted to see one too!! That takes my life list to 336! (which i think is good, seeing as ive just turned 16!!)

All very well for you youngsters, but I would gladly let you have all my Bluethroats (over-run with them in winter), and my optics and photographic gear in exchange for being 16 again!!!

2 cracking birds. And yes that list is very impressive - far ahead of me when I was in my early twenties and had access to transport.

Congratulations Andy, I've just got back from the Ebro Delta area, lots of great birds but none of the excitement of getting a 'lifer'. Had to wait until Sunday, while doing my WEBS count for House Martin and Willow Warbler in UK. Still 119 Pale-bellied Brent on the shore here

Andy, does your list of 336 still include things like Black-eared Kite as a split and the Oxfordshire "Thayer's" Gull?

I think if I listed like this I'd be on about 450 for the UK ;)

Hello Andy22 and Joe Stockwell,

Just wanted to say how great it is to know some birders that are about my age! (I am 15). By the way Andy that was a great bluethroat! Nice one!

I don't know, kids today, heh?!

You don't know how lucky you are. Back in the old days, I was 24 before I saw my 300th UK species - Swainson's Thrush at Longstone on 12 October 1987 - mind you I'd just seen Eyebrowed Thrush as well.

However, my 300th found species for the UK was a Greater Yellowlegs at Southwold on 14th May 1995 - it was good to find a Lesser Yellowlegs there in December to complete the set!

Keep it up, but find your own stuff as well!
