Ring Necked Duck reported again today on Stithians (southern cut off). The bittern hasnt been reported now since 18th March so this bird has presumably gone with the higher water levels not having helped. keep looking though cos it could hide away in the back of the scrub for weeks and not be seen...

Hi stithianswarden - have you seen any reports of the Hume's at Tehidy recently and presumably the Cot bird has long gone? Spring migration in full force with you yet?

The cot bird has long gone, the tehidy bird is still there and shows well at the well times, very elusive at others. As for migration a couple of sand martins were reported near Wadebridge one friday afternoon two weeks ago i think, then the following day they were everywhere inc a flock of 100+ at Stithians.
A few individual House martins being reported and the odd Swallow and Wheatear. Puffins have been reported from Gwennap Head after recent strong winds. Chiff Chaff seem to be around in numbers now as well.

very quiet between 16.15 and 17.15 tonight

only 2 little grebe, 4 tufted duck, 2 mute swan, 1 chiff chaff, 1 woodpidgeon, 1 raven, 1 magpie 2 teal, 1 grey heron.

species heard- blue tit, wren, great tit.

quiet at Stithians again today.

1 Ring Necked Duck, 2 GC Grebe, 4 Tufted Duck, 2 Moorhen, 2 Mute Swan, 1 Cormorant

ring necked still on southern cut off today at 18.30 pm. main reservoir had around 100+ sand martins..

it appears Windmill Farm down on the lizard has 3 black winged stilt on there.

Would have been doing my patch yesterday and today and would have got 2nd/3rd Cattle Egret for Wirral and Cheshire, along with a whole bunch of Whimbrel and a couple of male Redstart, never mind Greenshank - but I,m in Mallorca trying not to offend a group of students!

Was down in Cornwall for a long weekend from Norfolk. Had a few bits and bobs, including finding another Purple Heron (not the Windmill Farm one):

Nice part of the world. Need to get down there more often. Also, does anybody have the name and address of who to submit a description to for the heron?

Windmill Farm looks excellent. Well done on the Purple find. It's casual finds like this that make you wonder if Cornwall is bursting with rarities but just needs a few more eyes.
