Hello everyone!

I am lucky enough to live in a rural area of Lincolnshire, and there is an abundance of birds in my area. one of my favourites is the yellowhammer. Recently there has been a male yellow hammer singing from a hedge just outside my back door. He has not moved from that perch in 4 days and he sings constantly all day. Is this normal behaviour? Is it territorial? Is he trying to attract a mate? Any comments would be appreciated, thanks,

Robert

ive noticed this behaviour before, but mainly with raptors i have always put it down to a terratorial thing, also if you watch a song thrush for long enough it will have a favorite stone to smash snails onto so i isnt just territorial it could be he jsut likes that spot

Yeah you could be right there, its great to see it there. I am aware that yellowhammer numbers have declined in Britain recently. Thanks for your help.
