Hi everybody,

I'm popping in with a blog update. The posts from today and yesterday feature thick billed parrots, the only remaining species of parrot native to North America.

Hope you enjoy!

Hi Stephanie

Thought I'd best pull you up on a few comments - Thick-billed Parrot is the only extant psittacine native to the USA (there are lots in Mexico which is still North America) and may not occur in a wild state anywhere in the USA any more ie. not in New Mexico as your web site states (the provenance of potential vagrant individuals has been disputed). What is the role of your centre in the efforts to reintroduce this species or have attempts now been terminated across the board?

cheers

Alex
