It does indeed look very much like a golden-winged warbler

I must try harder next time. Yes it's a Golden-winged Warbler from High Island, Texas the other weekend. Here's another videograb of the same bird

Hi Andy,
Don't try too hard next time. I'm still feeling a bit Machiavellian about my last mystery post--wrentit. Of course, no one posted anything new for what seemed an eternity, which only made me feel worse!
What a great find for you! You must have been really happy at the end of that day. Did you go to Texas for migration in general or to find your warbler specifically? The more I read about Texas birding on the net, the more appealing a long visit sounds. Congratulations on your find.
Sue

Hi Sue, yes went out for a long weekend to High Island. Got quite lucky and the first day there was a nice fall-out of migrants that included about 20 species of warblers. Highlights for everyone over the weekend were this Golden-winged and a Cerulean Warbler. First acceptable views of a Cerulean for me. Weather was nice and company good so a great weekend in all.
