Had a quick look around my patch between showers early this morning and came up with 9 species of warbler, Gropper, Sedge, Reed, Common Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat, Blackcap, Garden, Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler plus a few Wheatear, White Wagtail, Tree Pipit and Whimbrel. Best birds were females of Whinchat and Redstart. Not bad for a semi-suburban area. No sign of the Cattle Egret though.

Wow, what a great morning walk. Some great birds there Chris! Sounds as if you have a good patch, cheers,

Brilliant morning, so I walked to the station across my patch. Cattle Egret still present - saw it last night from my garden, so it's going on the garden list! Cracking male 'Channel' Wagtail, Common Sandpiper, 3 'Greenland' Wheatear plus the 'usual' warblers, broods of Lapwing etc. Keeps your head right at work, a start like that!!!! :certifiable:

'Had' to go and do my Webs count on my patch yesterday. Apart from the highest number of Lapwing with young I've ever encountered here, 15 pairs, there was only 'the usual stuff ' until I picked up a cracking summer plumaged Wood Sandpiper, what a stunning bird. We've had quite a run of these on the Wirral this year, so far. After last Sundays Whiskered Tern at Burton Point Farm, my first for Wirral, I wasn't expecting anything like that but, I'd just finished my count when I got a phone call ' Red rumped Swallow @ Leasowe'. As it's only a couple of mile away I belted over to pick up my 2nd 'Wirral Lifer' of the year. The bird was performing brilliantly, down to 1-2 metres away, just the thing to set you up for Sunday lunch ( even if I was a BIT late).:beer::beer:
