Hi all

Semi-comprehensive, possibly incomprehensible trip report from Foula now online at punkbirder (http://www.freewebs.com/punkbirder), some other new photos archived on UK Scarce (http://www.surfbirds.com/cgi-bin/gallery/display.cgi?gallery=gallery12). Anyone else ever been in spring? We were a little disappointed, not least when Fair Isle pulled the rug out from under us....

cheers

Alex

Terrific read. Much admiration. I know it's not much compensation for what must have seemed like a lot of physical pain but that still is a pretty impressive haul of self-found birds for one week! A single spring Red-backed Shrike, Icterine Warbler or Common Rosefinch would draw a weekend crowd on the mainland. You had a whole bundle of them to enjoy on your own. Beautiful scenery too.

PS You all should check out the Rufous-tailed Robin photos on the N. American Stop Press. Squint a little Alex and you'd get a sense of what finding a clifftop one would be like on a remote scottish island.

Excellent read, that's one ugly sheep or is that lamb? Better luck next year, you know you will.

cheers all, I've still got a pretty good search image for that one (http://www.fairislebirdobs.co.uk/Sightings/2004/RebeccaNason/RUFOUS-TAILED-ROBIN.jpg).... well, on a stone-wall on Fair isle or in Poland (http://avestom.com/images/foto_rar/00foto_rar.htm)...
