Ladies, and gentlemen:

I have several bird feeders in my back yard, here in Spring, Texas. One is filled with nothing but Black Oil Sunflower Seeds. Cardinals love them. So, we have a lot of Cardinals in the yard, which is always a beautiful sight to see.

Here is my question. This weekend,...I noticed a Mature Male Cardinal, in all his Red Glory, feeding a mature Black Bird, as though it is his baby. It happens on the ground, and in the trees. It is not a single occurrence. It has been going on for several days now. Is this "Normal"??? I have Never Heard of such a thing happening. If it continues...I am going to get some photos to prove it.

Please let me know what the deal is with this cardinal.

Thanks,

Paul

Perhaps it is trying to say "Here, try these they are very good"

or perhaps the birds natural urge to feed her own young which may have died and she is feeding other brds because of instinct to feed her chicks is so strong.

Males EAT their young. They don't feed them. I seriously considered eating My Own Young.
