Does any one know this wild iris see in early March in Jordan on Mount Nebo? It was about eight inches in height.

Hello Jacqueline.
I am fairly certain that this is Iris sisyrinchium or "Barbary Nut". See my thread (and photo) below in this forum section.

Hello Colin
Fórum Aves is a marvellous site and reading the list of spring arrivals, I couldn’t help but wonder whether I’d seen an individual or two in Egypt on route to Portugal.
With regards to the iris, I would agree that it is Iris sisyrinchium. Also, when checking various sites, I found a comprehensive list of Jordanian flora compiled by a university. I have a number of pix of unidentified species and had previously rather stupidly limited my searches to Jordan instead of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, so now I’m in for hours of fun!
I really appreciate your continuous assistance.:beer:
