help for bird

hello anyone, Hummingbird caught in feeder wed. No feathers on back of head, some long ones on rt wing . Lt wing better, but not good. Bird is strong and healthy as best I can tell. Actually had rubbed sore between shoulders, used triple antibotic and looks great, Had large blister now looks good. Iv'e called many vet in my area as well as st louis they don't do hummers or seem to give a hoot. This bird can live if i can just get the proper nutrition. Mo Conservation say feed her meal worms. How? Mush i nectar. Bird wont eat ants and I'm not good at getting fruitflies. Houston we have a problem. Local pet store has AviVita plus Is this safe for hummer. 72 hours window is now. Can anyone advise.

I am sorry that I cannot help with advice but want to give you moral support. You have done wonderful things for the hummingbird and I hope that you get the advice you seek. Surely someone from the RSPB is a member here and can get Kathy the information she needs. Someone please support her and the little bird.

Until you get some professional advice I would advise a super-saturated solution of brown sugar (molasses) in hot water, allow to cool to room temperature, and then drip feed from a syringe (or a suspended, up-turned plastic bottle with a piece of string threaded through the cap to act as a slow constant drip). Water and sugar are all this bird needs at the moment.

Kathy, I hated to ask but please let us know how you got on - been thinking about it since you posted. I hope its a happy tale but appreciate how fragile birds are when they are distressed.
