I notice that Zeiss are going to launch a 'PhotoScope' next spring/summer, whereby they take the concept of a standard scope and build in a 7MP digital camera! Summary of it here (http://www.zeiss.de/c12567a80033f8e4/Contents-Frame/0c44ceaaaf43ef12c12574c5002f2303).

Anybody have any thoughts on this new model, whether it's worth saving pennies for, and whether or not there might be significant upgrades (and therefore an equally significant price-drop in the inital model) in the future.

I believe it's an idea that's been around a while, so very interesting to see it put into practice.

There was another recent thread about this thing; Colin didn't think much of it - can't find the thread now, but he mentioned that while the 'scope optics will be good for a lifetime, the built-in camera will be obsolete in a couple of years or so, and presumably not easy to detach and replace.

If you're saving pennies, it'll also take a few hundred years to get enough to buy one.

I posted this in the thread referred to above, but thought I would tag it onto this as well:
