José Pereira reported on the Portuguese Yahoo "Raridades" forum that a Wallcreeper was seen at 15.00 hrs today on the pavement outside his house (30 meters from his front door!) in Loulé.

The long post is entirely in Portuguese and I have not had time to translate all of it but it sounds as though the bird was behaving very strangely and did not seem at all well.

One of my "most wanted" birds.

This was the first thread I opened as soon as I came to the forum! A much needed bird for me too.

I shall be looking harder when I visit Foia and any other montane locations for sure!

Are the Accentors at Cabo de Sao Vicente again this winter? I was too excited to take a picture when I saw them two years ago and they weren't there last winter as far as I was aware.

Hello Andrew,

Alpine Accentor, Rock Thrush (Rufous-tailed) and Ring Ouzel have all been seen at Foia recently; there are are least four Alpine Accentors at Cabo de São Vicente on the cliffs around the car-park.

Fantastic. That makes the long drive more appealing now!

I do love that drive as when you pass a certain town the landscape all changes.
