I found this a bit sickening:

Although I believe attitudes are now beginning to change, I think the Chinese have much to answer for in their demands for animal organs and foodstuffs to the detriment of wildlife.

What an abhorance! I lived in the region for 7 years and had not heard of this sort of thing going on. I guess it did but was not considered news worthy at the time.
I used to capture wild reptiles at the time I was there but always made sure they were released back to the area they were caught. I was at Slim School in the Cameron Highlands and the captives were on display for a short time in the Science block before release. These days I would take people to the animals and not the other way round.
The problem with China is that the culture there uses animal parts for medicines. I think you are right though Colin, things are changing. Lets hope the change is rapid.

This desire for "Wild Meat" or "Bush Meat" (as it is called in Africa) is rather worrying - a case of "Free Range" not being quite as environmentally friendly as most people think!
