Have you tried a "Google"?

I don't know the area, but I am sure you could find more info if you try.

Hi Michael there is a (poor) guide to birding Alicante Province (by Malcolm Palmer i think) and i have birded around torrevieja as my aunt lives next to the larger of the Salinas - here is a trip report from my bloghttp://idiocybirding.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html.
Just into Murcia are some good spots for RN Nightjar and if you contact Jules Sykes who runs a bird tour company in the north of alicante province i am assured he runs some very good outings including for steppe species. Marbled Duck and White-headed Duck are present on the Santa Pola marshes although i failed to connect and many goo bits are there.

Nice blog James. I liked your entry "Root Canal" - it was my birthday recently which I celebrated with deep (34mm) drilling out of pre-molar root canal, filling with lavatory cleaner (tasted and smelt like it) to kill infection, and then final filling yesterday. Ten days of sheer hell.

I have dug out the book its called 'A birdwatching guide to the Costa Blanca' by Malcolm Palmer (1992). It gives the main thrust as to where to go but the roads are a lot out of date as is the size of development in the area and it is better watched these days. Weekends are still a nightmare with hunters apparently but i didnt see many.

Cheers for the comments on the blog Colin - unfortunatly its not as expressive as it was in april due to time commitments but i find it a fun way of recording what ive seen. All i can say with the dental work is you have my sympathy - my temporary filling is now ue for renewal but i keep putting it off!

Hi Michael,
I have just joined these forums and noticed your message while searching for Costa Blanca. I am a local guide in the area and have written an up to date guide book entitled 'Where To Watch Birds In The Southern Costa Blanca And Surrounding Areas'. The birdlife around here is great and if you visited the area you should get a healthy list of sought after species. My website is www.spainbirdwatching.com if you are interested.
Cheers
Graham
